Simple Chicken Casserole

I can honestly say I am not a fan of casseroles, but I have found and adapted a few to my liking. I like to kid my mom that people make casseroles when they want to clean out all their leftover food. Of course, I know that is not true. This is a family favorite of mine. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

3 cups of cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced

1 can of chicken gravy

1/2 cup of sour cream

1 sleeve of saltine crackers, crushed

4 tablespoons of butter, melted

salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl add the chicken, gravy, sour cream, salt and pepper and stir this together until it is mixed together.

Pour this into a greased 8 x 8 oven safe dish and spread it out evenly.

In a small bowl add the crackers and the butter and stir this together so that the crackers are evenly coated in the butter.

Sprinkle the buttered crackers over the chicken mixture and place the casserole into the oven.

Bake for 25 -30 minutes or until the crackers are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly. Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Note: You can use cream of chicken instead of the gravy in this recipe if you prefer that. Also, you can use a mixture of dark or white shredded chicken and use buttered crackers instead of the saltines.

I like to serve this chicken casserole with a side of green beans but many other side dishes would work.

Omg I don’t like making casseroles because they take forever! Cook the meat first, cook the pasta first, blah blah blah…next! Haha, but it looks like you killed it here! Looks delish Sheree!
