Green Beans

Every year my family and I grow, and pressure can our green beans. I save the seed year after year as this is my family’s heirloom beans, but you can make this recipe with canned store-bought green beans also. This is how my family likes to cook them. You will need the following ingredients:

Pour the beans out into a kettle and add the butter, salt and pepper. Boil the green beans until the water is almost gone. Make sure not to scorch them though. Enjoy!

Tip: I have never had store bought green beans, but I would recommend pouring the water out and rinsing them off and adding some fresh water before you cook them. You can let me know in the comments if this is a valid step to make as I truly do not know anything about store bought green beans. I should probably buy a can and try them one day though.

Note: You can add ham, bacon, bacon drippings and many other seasonings to green beans but my family truly enjoys them the simple way.

I like to serve these green beans on the side of chicken, fish, beef, or casseroles even. This simple recipe goes with a lot of different meal choices.

You could also make these fresh from the vine or the store but you would need to cook them down for hours, as these beans are often referred to as cooked to death green beans.
