I enjoy making this hot ham and swiss cheese sandwiches with homemade onion infused melted butter on the top. This butter takes these sandwiches over the top. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

18 small sandwich buns or rolls

1 pound of sandwich ham, sliced

8 oz of swiss cheese, sliced

3 tablespoons of butter

1 teaspoon of dried onions

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of grated parmesan

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Slice the sandwich buns or rolls in half.

Divide each piece of the swiss cheese into 4 pieces.

Place a piece of swiss cheese, a slice of ham, and another piece of swiss cheese on the bottom of the buns then place the top of the bun on each sandwich. Place the sandwiches into an oven safe 8 x 10 casserole dish. Tip: If you use a metal pan be careful that the sandwiches do not burn.

In a small bowl combine the onions, garlic powder, parmesan and butter and melt this together either on the stove top on in the microwave.

Brush the melted butter over each of the buns making sure to coat each bun evenly. Place a piece of aluminum foil over the sandwiches and bake them for 15 – 20 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the ham has heated through. Enjoy!

Note: You can add whatever your favorite cheese is instead of using the swiss cheese.

I like to serve these sandwiches with a side of tomatoes, lettuce and dijon mustard. These sandwiches are a wonderful addition for any party you may be attending or just as a quick dinner one night for your family.
