This cake recipe was given to me many years ago by a very dear friend. It was something that she would bake and just bring by as a treat for the people she loved. It is so easy to make. You will need the following ingredients:

Pour this batter into 2 greased 8 inch round cake pans or a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

Bake for 25 – 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let the cake sit for 5 minutes. Then if you are using the round cake pans turn the cake out onto a plate and begin icing the cake with the applesauce.
Tip: If the applesauce is cold you will need to heat it up.
If you are using a 9 x 13 dish just pour the applesauce over the top and smooth it out evenly.

Place the second layer over the first layer and ice the top and sides. This is a little tricky to get the applesauce to stick to the cake sides but it does work. I use a very small spatula and flip it from the top. Enjoy!

Note: You can use a boxed cake mix for this recipe if you choose to, but this homemade version, to me, just takes it over the top.
This cake is really delicious when it is warm.
