Old-Fashioned Apple Dumplings

This apple dumpling recipe is a family favorite around here and it is a recipe that is so easy to make. This dessert is ready to go into the oven as soon as the oven gets through preheating. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe

1 apple, sliced and peeled

1 package of crescent rolls

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1/2 stick of butter

1/2 cup of apple juice

1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

1/8 teaspoon of coarse kosher salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Add the apple juice, cinnamon, butter, and brown sugar to a small kettle and heat this on medium high heat until it boils. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Sit this mixture aside.

Open the crescent rolls and separate them out into individual triangles and place a piece of sliced apple at the edge of the larger section and roll the apple up. Repeat this step until all the crescent rolls have been used.

Place the rolled apples into a 8 x 8 baking dish and carefully pour the cinnamon mixture over the top of the apples.

Sprinkle the salt evenly over the top of the crescent rolls.

Bake the apple crescents for 25 – 30 minutes, or until the apples are golden brown and the crescents have cooked through.

Remove from the oven and let them sit for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Note: You can also make this recipe with some fresh peaches.

I like to serve these apple dumplings with some vanilla ice cream and some of the syrup from the baking dish drizzled over the top.
