Homemade Pizza Dough

We all love homemade pizzas around here, so we make this recipe a lot. This is a simple recipe that comes together quickly. This dough recipe will make 3 personal size pizzas, 2 medium ones or one large one. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

4/3 cup of warm water

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 1/2 tablespoons of active yeast

1 teaspoon of salt

3 1/4 cup of bread flour, all-purpose will work too

1 – 2 tablespoons of oil

I use a large mixer to make this recipe, but you can do this by hand.

In a mixer bowl add the warm water, sugar and the yeast and let this sit for 5 minutes. Tip: The yeast will get foamy on the top. If the yeast doesn’t foam then your water was too hot or your yeast is no longer any good.

Stir in the flour and the salt and mix this until everything is mixed and the pizza dough has formed a ball.

Place a dough hook on your mixer and knead the pizza dough for 5 – 7 minutes. You can also knead this dough by hand.

Remove the bowl from the mixer and cover the dough with the oil and place a clean kitchen towel over it and let the dough rest for 45 minutes or until the pizza dough has doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

Pat out the dough into the size you need and add your sauce, toppings and cheese.

Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 10 – 15 minutes or until the pizza is golden brown. Enjoy!

Note: You can double this recipe if you need more and you can also make this ahead and freeze it.

I like to serve this homemade pizza with a side salad.
