This recipe is a family favorite, and it is also a great dessert to carry to family, work, or church gatherings. It is so simple to make and a crowd pleaser. You will need the following ingredients:

In a bowl, combine the flour and brown sugar and cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter. (I use a cheese grater and grate my butter to make this step a little easier.) Combine together until the mixture is in small crumbly pieces. Press down into a 8 x 10 baking dish and place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Using the same bowl, add the condensed milk, egg, chocolate chips, and vanilla and mix together.

Take the dish out of the oven and add this mixture on top, spreading evenly over the top to cover the bottom layer and place back in the oven and bake for another 20 -25 minutes.

Cool bars completely and cut into small bars and store at room temperature.

Note: You can use whatever type of chocolate chips you enjoy and you could add walnuts or pecans to this. I would just reduce the amount of chocolate chips that you add.

These bars are extremely sweet so I cut them into small pieces. These are really good when they are slightly warm and have a side of vanilla ice cream. No matter how these are served they are certainly a recipe that everyone asks for.
