With it being Memorial Day weekend and a lot of people are planning bbq’s I thought I would share my favorite bbq rub. I make it homemade using spices that I have in my pantry. This is a spice blend I came up with that is so easy to make and it goes well on chicken, pork, and beef. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:
3 teaspoons of salt
2 teaspoons of smoked paprika
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1/ 2 teaspoon of dry mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander
1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

In a small dish mix together the salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, mustard, onion powder, ground coriander and cayenne pepper and rub onto whatever meat you are smoking or cooking.

Note: If you have leftovers of this spice blend you can store this in an airtight container and use for the next time. If you do not like spice you can leave the cayenne pepper out or just add a very small dash.
I enjoy making my own spice blends as I can control the ingredients and the amounts that go into them. Most of the time when I make this blend in the summer I just double it as I know I will be using it several times.
Do you have a favorite bbq rub ingredient that you like to add to your bbq rubs? If so, please comment and let me know what spice you would add.
