This was my granny’s favorite way to fix tuna salad, and she shared the recipe with all of us. It is really simple to make and certainly a family favorite. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:
1 small can of tuna in water
2 tablespoons of minced onion
2 tablespoons of dill or sweet pickle relish
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
small sprig of fresh thyme or a small pinch
salt and pepper to taste

Drain the water from the tuna and put the tuna in a small bowl. Add the onions, pickle relish, mayonnaise, salt, pepper and thyme and stir this together until the tuna gets creamy in texture. You may have to add more or less mayonnaise to get the consistency you like. Enjoy!

Tip: If you do not have pickle relish you can mince up pickles and add those instead. If you have never added thyme to your tuna salad recipes try it. It takes some of the fishy taste out of the tuna.
You can use this tuna recipe to place on some white sandwich bread or serve it on a bed of salad greens alongside crackers.
Note: You can use any tuna you like whether it is in oil or water, albacore or the standard tuna in a can, just make sure to drain it really well.
I like to serve this recipe on those hot warm days when my family wants something cool to eat and somewhat filling too. Be sure to store any leftovers in the refrigerator and eat them within 2 days.
