I love these homemade chocolate chip waffles, and they are a family favorite around here. This is a really simple recipe, and you can make extras to freeze and take out when you want them. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:
2 1/2 cups of self rising flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips (any variety will work)
4 tablespoons of butter, melted
optional: whipped cream, syrup, extra chocolate chips
Preheat the waffle iron.

In a medium bowl add the milk, butter, egg and sugar and stir this together until everything is well mixed.

Add in the flour and mix again. Then stir in the chocolate chips. Make sure not to over mix the waffle batter because this will make your waffles tough.
Spray the waffle iron with some non-stick cooking spray or brush some melted butter over the waffle iron.

Add the batter to the waffle iron and cook this until the waffles are light and crispy. Tip: Place the waffles on a cooling rack if you are not eating them right away as you do not want the waffles to get soggy.

Continue cooking the waffles until all the batter has been used up. Enjoy!
Note: If you have extra waffles you can store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for 6 months.
I like to serve these with some syrup, whipped cream and a sprinkling of chocolate chips on top.
