This is a recipe I make every year when the fresh tomatoes start coming in from my garden. I always pick a few and make this southern delicacy for my family. You will need the following ingredients:

Use three small plates or bowls and put the flour in one, the cornmeal mix in one and the buttermilk and longhorn seasoning in one.
Wash and slice the tomatoes into round slices about 1/4 inch thick or so.
Preheat a small non- stick skillet on medium high heat and add the oil.

Place the tomato slices into the flour, then place it into the buttermilk and then into the cornmeal mix.

Very carefully place the breaded tomato slices into the hot oil and let brown until they are golden brown on one side then turn the tomatoes over and let the other side brown. Try to only turn these once.

When the tomatoes are golden brown place them onto a paper towel lined plate and and let the grease drain some. Sprinkle the hot tomato slices with salt. Enjoy!

Note: You can cook as many as you need just adjust the measurements of the flour, buttermilk and cornmeal mix accordingly.
We like to serve these on the side of a sandwich. You can eat these with some ranch dressing or other dipping sauces but we just like them plain.
