Cube steak is one of my family’s favorite meals to have, so this simple recipe is one that is cooked often. This is the way my mom and granny make cubed steak. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:
1 package of cubed steak
1/2 cup of self-rising flour
1/2 cup of vegetable oil, or your favorite frying oil
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat a large skillet to medium to medium low heat and add the oil.
Place the flour into a shallow plate and add the salt and pepper and mix the flour with a fork. Add the cubed steaks, making sure to coat all sides evenly and shake off any excess flour. Continue breading the steaks until all the steaks have been breaded.
Carefully add the steaks to the hot oil and cook the steaks until they are golden brown on each side. Tip: The key to getting tender cubed steaks is to make sure not to cook the steaks on too high of a temperature and to buy good quality steaks from the butcher or the grocery store.

Remove the steaks from the oil and let them drain for a few minutes on a paper towel lined plate before serving. Enjoy:
Note: You can cook as many cubed steaks as you need, just add more flour and oil. You can also use an egg wash before the flour but my mom and granny just made it using flour for the breading so that is how I cook it.
I like to serve these fried cubed steaks with some creamed potatoes, green beans, and macaroni and cheese or with some eggs, biscuits, and country gravy. Either way is delicious!
