Copycat Chick-FIl-A Chocolate Chip Cookie

I love Chick-Fil-A’s chocolate oatmeal cookies so I decided to see if I could duplicate the recipe. (not sponsored) I made up a batch of cookies today and they taste almost exactly like the ones at the restaurant. You will need the following ingredients:

Yields 23 large cookies

Recipe:

1/2 cup of shortening

1 stick of butter, room temperature

1/2 cup of white sugar

1 1/2 cups of dark brown sugar, packed

2 eggs

1/2 tablespoon of vanilla

2 3/4 cups of self rising flour

1 cup of oatmeal (quick cooking or old fashioned)

1/2 cup of semi sweet chocolate chunks

2 cups of milk chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl add the shortening and the butter and cream this together. Add the brown and white sugars and beat until this is light and fluffy. Add the vanilla.

Add the eggs one at a time mixing between each one.

Turn the mixer to low and add the flour. Tip: Mix this on low before turning the mixer up to keep the flour from creating a big mess.

Add the oatmeal and mix this until it comes together.

Use a knife and chop the chocolate bar into small rectangle pieces.

Pour in the chocolate chips and chunks and mix this until is well mixed. (You can add whatever variety of chocolate chips you like)

To make these cookies like the restaurants add a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop full of dough then add another 2 tablespoon scoop of cookie dough on top of the first one. Do not mash this down as the cooking process will do this.Scoop the cookies onto a large greased cookie sheet, or add parchment paper to your baking pan. You will only get 6 cookies on the large baking sheet as you need to allow for plenty of room to spread out.

Bake the cookies for 15 – 17 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the cookie sheet and place them on a cooling rack. Enjoy!

Note: You could also add some walnuts or pecans to these cookies but I did not as they are not included in the ones at the restaurant.

I like to enjoy these wam from the oven or heated up in the microwave when serving them but they are delicious anytime.

Just for fun I thought I would let you compare the restaurant’s cookie to mine. This is one I picked up today.
