Southern Peach Cobbler

I love to make this peach cobbler recipe as it brings back fond memories of my granny. This is the recipe she used and she handed it down to me many years ago. It is so simple to make. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

1 pint of sliced peaches, or a 15 oz can

1 cup of milk

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of self rising flour

1 stick of butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Pour the peaches and the syrup into a 8 x 8 oven safe baking dish. Tip: I know a lot of recipes call for the peaches to be drained but my granny never drained hers so I do not drain mine.

In a medium bowl add the the flour, sugar, milk and melted butter and mix this until it is smooth.

Pour this mixture over the peaches and place the baking dish into the oven and cook for 45 – 60 minutes. Cook time can vary, but you want to cook this until the batter is done in the middle and the top is golden brown in color.

Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Note: If you like a lot of fruit in your cobblers just double the fruit and use the juice from one can instead of both. You can use this cobbler recipe to make several different types of fruit cobblers. I like to use whatever is in season and/or what I have on hand that day.

This cobbler is great served as is or with a scoop of vanilla icecream on the side.
