Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe

I love making homemade buttermilk biscuits. This is a simple recipe that takes only minutes to make. You will need the following ingredients:

Recipe:

2 1/4 cups of self- rising flour

2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening

1 cup of whole buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

Place 2 cups of the flour into a medium bowl and crumble the vegetable shortening up into small pieces.

Add the buttermilk and stir this together with a spoon or with your hands.

Make sure that all the flour is mixed well with the buttermilk.

Sprinkle the remaining flour over the biscuit dough and put a little on your hands.

Pinch off the biscuit dough and roll the biscuit then pat it flat and lay it onto a griddle or oven safe pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until the top of the biscuit is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and serve.

My favorite way to serve these biscuits is with a side of ham, sausage, bacon, jelly or honey.
